I'm not catholic, but I know many people who follow the regulations of this belief very carefully. I admire their dedication, and I think they are wonderful people due to it. There are many things in life that are wonderful in abstract theory, but are not so fantastic in practice. Though a catholic wedding seems to cover what the religious conviction means to those who attend, I have to say it's lacking a bit. Though who follow this belief are acclimated to the duration of the ceremony and the christian wedding songs, but for someone like me, this is some-thing of a shock. One of my closest friends asked me to be in her catholic wedding, and I had no concept what I was getting into when I agreed. I enjoyed the christian wedding songs, but it was long!
The ceremony itself isn't bad, it's the duration of it. It seemed to me that everyone was moving in slow motion, and that did not help. A catholicism-based wedding is a long affair, but that may not be the case if everyone would just go a bit faster. You can get things done without appearing hurried if you put your mind to it, but it seemed that everybody who was concerned in her catholic wedding wanted to take their time, including the people that sang the christian wedding songs.
The duration of the ceremony was a bit much for me, and the main reason was my choice of shoe. I had to have some-thing with a heel, but Little did I know that I would have to stand in them for an hour. By the time we were halfway done with the catholicism-based wedding ceremony, I thought my feet were going to fall off. They hurt like crazy, & my dress was not long enough for me to slip them off for a little ease. I noticed many of the other girls in the wedding were shifting around uncomfortably, and when there were moments when we could sit, one could hear an audible sigh of release from most of the wedding party.
Over all, though, the catholic wedding was gorgeous, and I'm happy that my friend and her brand-new husband had the wedding day they wanted, and that everything went smoothly. My biggest problem was that I didn't know what to expect, & that ought to have been something that I asked as the preparations were being made. She was quite aware that we might be awkward, but she was so exhausted that she mentioned this to us much too late. That's okay though, I would do anything for her. I will think twice if some-one else asks me to be a part of a catholic wedding again though.
